Unveiling the future of AI technology at the Microsoft AI Tour in Seoul

Microsoft Korea hosted the Microsoft AI Tour in Seoul today at the aT Center in Yangjae, providing insights into AI technology to help developers and organizations transform the way they work and connect with new business opportunities. 

The rapid development of AI technology has led to a global shortage of developers in areas where developing applications is essential. In particular, the rising cost of deploying AI, the need for greater data security, and the growing need for AI integration are putting pressure on developers. This is exacerbating the “App gap” problem. In response, Microsoft is supporting the growth of the developer community by providing the tools to build AI apps regardless of the development platform, programming language, or level of coding experience.   

Scott Hanselman, Vice President of the Microsoft Developer Community engaged with business leaders from a variety of industries, including local developers and engineers, and highlighted Microsoft’s commitment to to fostering business growth and innovation across industries. He emphasized that AI technology is a creative tool that can overcome the limitations of traditional work. 

In addition to in-depth insights from industry leaders, the keynote sessions featured demonstrations of the AI tools and strategies that are being used at the forefront of the developer community.

“Korea’s national assets—perseverance, honesty, speed, and creativity— are driving Korea to a leading position in the face of a new wave of changes in the AI era. AI is advancing important changes in all industries around the world, and developers are at the core of all these changes.”said Willy Cho, CEO of Microsoft Korea. and added, “Microsoft will spare no all-out support to help developers design a better future.”

Willy began by introducing the Korean version of Copilot for Microsoft 365, which officially launched on March 29th. Korean users can now use M365 apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook for efficient content creation, data analysis, and more with Korean commands.

The customer stories of Korean companies that introduced innovative AI solutions using Microsoft’s AI technology were also revealed. In particular, LG Electronics and SK Innovation are leading the transformation of AI in Korea by using the Azure OpenAI Service to develop reliable applications to meet users’ needs.

“AI technology is more than just a technical tool; it plays a critical role in maximizing business results by improving collaboration and fostering innovative thinking within organizations,” said Scott Hanselman. He added, “Developers around the world are using Microsoft’s generative AI and low-code tools to overcome technical limitations, making it easy for developers of all backgrounds to build AI applications that bring their creative ideas to life.”

He also presented a variety of AI tools and platforms that can help developers be more productive in their work. He demonstrated GitHub Copilot and Microsoft Copilot Studio to show how these technologies can be applied in the real workplace, and also shared insights into the future of AI technology for Korean language processing.

After the keynote, attendees had a choice of sessions to suit their individual interests and technical needs. The breakout sessions provided knowledge and acknowledges for app development. The subsequent workshop sessions gave attendees hands-on experience implementing AI tools using their own devices. In addition, the Connection Hub featured 16 themed booths where experts provided in-depth advice tailored to attendee’s situation.

Meanwhile, Microsoft is running its AI Odyssey initiative through June 25th. Participants can further their careers as professional developers in the field of AI by earning a Microsoft Applied Skills Certification. In addition, Microsoft will work with the Seoul Metropolitan Government to launch the Seoul AI Hub, which will provide a variety of training and initiatives to strengthen the professional support and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
